What ERPNext implementation costs in India

ERPNext costs nothing to license, but you'll still pay for hosting, implementation and support. We've gathered the published figures for each, with their sources, and the items that often get left out of a quote.

Where these come from

Is ERPNext free?

Yes, the software is. ERPNext is released under the GNU General Public License v3, which is in the licence file at the root of its repository. There's no fee per user and no paid module to unlock, so your twentieth user costs nothing in licences.

That doesn't make it free to run. You'll still pay for somewhere to host it, for someone to set it up for your business, and for someone to look after it once it's live.

What does hosting cost?

Frappe Cloud is run by the company that makes ERPNext, and it prices site plans by computing time and storage instead of by user. Here are its AWS plans in the Mumbai region, as listed on its site plans page:

Monthly priceCPU timeDatabaseStorage

₹8201 hr500 MB5 GB
₹2,0502 hrs1 GB25 GB

Servers, the Product Warranty and self-hostingA whole server starts at ₹3,600 a month. Self-hosting runs about ₹2,000 to ₹15,000 a month.

A whole server on Frappe Cloud starts at ₹3,600 a month, per its pricing page. Cheaper Hetzner plans are also offered in Mumbai, but Frappe itself describes them as best suited to development, testing and demo sites, and recommends AWS or OCI for production.

Frappe's Product Warranty covers its engineers fixing bugs in Frappe apps and Frappe Cloud. It doesn't cover functional support, so someone still has to answer questions like why an invoice picked the wrong tax.

The other option is to host it yourself on your own cloud server. Auriga IT's guide puts that at about ₹2,000 to ₹15,000 a month, plus the time of whoever administers it.

What does implementation cost?

Very few Indian partners publish their prices. The most detailed public figures we found are in Auriga IT's guide, written by Suman Yubraj and published on 13 August 2026. These are its market ranges. They aren't our prices, and they aren't a quote:

Business profileTypical scopePublished range
Small business1 to 2 locations, up to 15 users, 2 to 3 modules₹75,000 to ₹1,50,000
Mid-sized companyMulti-location, 15 to 50 users, 4 to 6 modules₹1,50,000 to ₹3,00,000
Enterprise50+ users, custom workflows, several integrations₹3,00,000 to ₹5,00,000+
Complex or multi-entityGroup consolidation, heavy custom apps, multi-country₹5,00,000 to ₹10,00,000+

Migration, training, support and a cross-checkAuriga budgets these separately, and a global guide's figures run much higher.

The same guide budgets separately for data migration (₹20,000 to ₹2,00,000), training (₹10,000 to ₹50,000), custom development (₹500 to ₹2,000 an hour) and annual support (₹30,000 to ₹1,20,000).

For a cross-check, ECOSIRE's 2026 pricing guide, a global piece in US dollars, puts India and Southeast Asia partners at $30 to $80 an hour and a full implementation at $10,000 to $40,000. That's well above Auriga's rupee ranges, which tells you the published ranges are describing quite different scopes. So when quotes come in, compare them line by line before you look at the totals.

What drives the cost up?

Since there's no licence per user, the number of users doesn't move the price much. What moves it is how complex your business is. A 20-person job-work manufacturer can need more configuration than a 60-person trading firm.

DriverWhy it moves the numberHow to keep it down
Companies and GSTINsEach entity needs its own chart of accounts, tax setup and invoice series, and group reports must consolidate them.Go live with one entity, then use it as the template for the next.
ManufacturingBOMs, routings, subcontracting and costing rules differ at every plant.Agree the costing method with your accountant before the build.
Payroll across statesProfessional tax, LWF and ESI rules change by state, and each needs testing.Start with the states where most of your staff work.
Migration depthOpening balances are quick to bring across. Years of Tally vouchers take much longer, and every one has to reconcile.Migrate balances and open items; keep old years read-only.
Master data qualityDuplicate customers, items and suppliers have to be cleaned up before import.Clean the masters during discovery.
IntegrationsE-invoicing, banks, e-commerce, WhatsApp and payment gateways each need a fallback when the other side is down.Build the fallbacks first, then add the integrations in phases.
Custom apps and reportsAnything ERPNext doesn't do as standard is new code to build, test and upgrade. For each one, check first whether a standard feature already does the job.
Decision speedProjects are rarely held up by the build itself. They're held up by blocking questions nobody answers.Name one owner who can decide.

What is usually missing from a quote?

Ask for each of these in writing, because a low quote often leaves out three or four of them.

  • Discovery: who maps how you work today, and is it paid for or squeezed into the sales process?
  • Cleaning the data and reconciling opening balances, as well as the import itself.
  • A separate test site for user acceptance, and who supplies the expected values.
  • Training for each role, instead of a single session for everyone.
  • GST on the quote itself.
  • Hosting after the first year, and who pays for it.
  • Version upgrades: who tests them, and on which site, before production.
  • Support after go-live: response times and what counts as a change.
  • Documentation: a runbook for deploy, backup and restore.
  • Who owns the custom code once you have paid for it.

How do we price?

We don't publish a rate card. You get a fixed price after discovery, before any building starts. We work in four ways:

Paid discovery

One to two weeks of work that ends in a signed blueprint you own and can take to any implementer. If you then build with us, the fee is credited against the build. The first 30-minute call is free.

Implementation

A fixed scope based on the signed blueprint, invoiced in four milestones instead of on time spent, so you know the total before work starts.

Managed run

A yearly, renewable contract covering support, upgrades (tested on a UAT site first), verified backup restores and small changes. The price depends on your users and integrations.

Search and growth

A monthly retainer for SEO and attribution, if the system is part of a wider sales push.

Once the final payment is made, everything built specifically for your business is yours. You can read more about discovery and blueprint and our ERPNext implementation service.

Sources

Questions buyers actually ask.

No. ERPNext is open source under GPL v3 with no per-user licence. Frappe Cloud site plans are priced by CPU time, database size and storage, not by the number of users.

Frappe Cloud's smallest AWS plan in Mumbai is ₹410 a month, as listed on 20 October 2026. It suits a trial or a very small team. Most businesses running stock and accounts daily will need a larger plan, so size it after a month of real use.

The server itself can cost less each month, but someone has to patch, back up, restore and upgrade it. Auriga IT's guide puts three years for ten users at about ₹3.2 lakh on Frappe Cloud's entry plan against about ₹11 lakh self-hosted once administration is counted.

Usually because they aren't quoting for the same work. One includes discovery, migration, training and support, and the other leaves them out. Check both quotes against the list of commonly missed items above before you compare totals.

Auriga IT states its implementation figures exclude GST. Check every quote you receive for whether GST is added on top.

Yes. Paid discovery is a one to two week engagement on its own. A focused CRM or HR build then runs four to eight weeks, and a full ERP with migration three to six months.
